The export activities are rapidly growing and last year Hoogendoorn developed and expanded its  international partner network. Besides this, Hoogendoorn also gained a Horti-Q certificate. With this certificate Hoogendoorn ensures its dealers and customers that their products and services meet all expected quality requirements. Eurofresh, Inc uses Hoogendoorn advanced growing technology

“We recently updated two of our greenhouse sites equipped with Hoogendoorn process computers to the new iSii system. It was one of the best choices we made this year”, Flip van der Most – Site Manager Eurofresh, Inc.

Eurofresh is the biggest producer of cucumbers and tomatoes in the USA and is located in Wilcox and Snowflake, Arizona. A location with abundant sunlight, excellent climatological conditions and a good fresh water supply. This specific region provides the ultimate growing conditions for exceptional quality greenhouse products all year round.  But these dry, desert-like conditions also come with some extreme growing challenges, To overcome these challenges, Eurofresh integrated advanced Hoogendoorn iSii technology with computerized climate control systems. Their propagation facility is included in this upgrade.

Cooling
Because of the climatological challenges, Eurofresh was looking for sophisticated and effective cooling and irrigation solutions. Flip van der Most is very passionate about the sophisticated cooling software offered by Hoogendoorn Growth Management. “It’s a fantastic system, especially the possibility to change settings based on the humidity deficiency and the extensive possibilities to control the pad & fan system are highly appreciated.”

In the propagation facility, not only the pad & fan system, but also techniques such as lighting, misting and screening are easy to control  with the new iSii systems. Eurofresh  growers are excited about the new iSii system compared to the previous system. “The iSii system brings added value to our operation, we now understand that a Hoogendoorn system is much more than an average climate and irrigation system. These are well developed, well constructed and industrial quality systems. Also their service and education are of a very high level”.

Optimizing irrigation with Aquabalance
Eurofresh has chosen to integrate the Aquabalance system in their Hoogendoorn equipped sites to improve their irrigation strategy in order to save water and fertilizer. The Aquabalance system is a unique weighing device for substrate slabs to help growers perfectly adjust the irrigation needs of the plants. The Aquabalance consists of scales 3 metres in length and a drain discharge system with a small valve and a pump. It also measures PH and EC. Hoogendoorn has developed specific software to control the Aquabalance, which is completely integrated into the iSii process computer.

Eurofresh
Eurofresh was founded in Pennsylvania in 1990. The company currently encompasses 318 acres of greenhouse facilities that consistently produce  a high volume of premium tomatoes throughout the year. The company employs 1200 people and is one of the major employers in the region. The tomatoes on the vine and cucumbers are sold throughout the United States under the Eurofresh Farms label.

Trima, another satisfied customer with Hoogendoorn in Mexico

The innovative project conducted between the companies Trima and Agrosoluciones de Mexico, has been completed. It took a year and a half to complete the whole project, where Agrosoluciones built the greenhouse structure of 6 Ha, and Hoogendoorn provided the complete automation through its iSii Climate Computer.
The total project size will be 12 Hectares. In this greenhouses they will grow tomatoes type Saladet in clusters and bulk. This is an innovative and modern project that was implemented thanks to the cooperation of Mexican, Canadian and Dutch companies.

With this investment, Trima will bring around 200 new employment opportunities for people in the region, which will benefit directly and indirectly more than 300 families.
The engineer Jorge Salazar is in charge of the project. After starting their operation last April, Mr. Salazar and his team are very pleased with the performance and characteristics that the Hoogendoorn iSii Process Computer has shown. They have commented that after the training they received from the Hoogendoorn Team in Mexico, they have been able to solve themselves issues that come to their attention everyday in a very easy way with the help of the computer. He has also said that the system is “very versatile and flexible” and that it is “easier to work with, which makes it different from other computers I have worked with” plus that the software “is very user friendly due to the fact that we can use many different influences to control the climate, irrigation and energy in the greenhouse”.

iSii process computer in Brock University Research Greenhouse

The innovative new research greenhouse at the Brock University in St. Catherines, Ontario will be executed with Hoogendoorn's iSii process computer.

Our partner Acrobat Controls has begun design and manufacturing of the control system to be installed in this new research greenhouse, scheduled for completion in 2012.
The user interface software employs a dual monitor workstation that offers a highly intuitive, and customizable, user experience. Along with the Datapoint hardware platform, which allows micro-modular hardware customization for the ultimate in flexibility, this will be a state-of-the-art system.

Hoogendoorn will automate Sustainable Innovation Centre in Turkey
SeraCulture and the participating Dutch horticultural businesses, among which Hoogendoorn together with MB Holding have initiated the building of a glass greenhouse complex of 4.1 ha. in Aydin Turkey which also includes a Sustainable Innovation Centre (S.I.C.). The assignment took place during the GrowTech last December 4th in Antalya. The SIC will be heated by geothermic heat. The water also consists of CO₂, which will be extracted and added to the greenhouse climate. Furthermore the water will be recycled for substrate cultivation. At the beginning of 2011 the construction of this greenhouse complex will start and the goal is to get it up and running in September 2011.
